Christopher Capozziello

2003 Student Winner

1st place

Christopher Capozziello documents emotions and events on film, and even during his first internship with the Sun Herald in Gulfport, Mississippi, his work captured attention. The photos he took during a racism project earned him a first place student scholarship with the Alexia Foundation.

Christopher also interned at the Dallas Morning News after graduation from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2003. He also won an honorable mention in the Golden Light Awards for Documentary and Photojournalism in 2005, and in 2006 he won third place in the category Contemporary Issues Stories at World Press Photo, a second place in the category Photo Essay/Story at the National Headliner Awards, and a third place in the series category, “Daily Life,” for CHIIPP. Christopher currently resides in Connecticut and does freelance work alongside personal photographic projects.
