World Food Programme estimate 9,500 people in the area of Mayandit were at risk of starvation. However, during the food distribution an estimated 36,000 internally displaced people came to Mayandit because of fighting in the neighboring town of Leer. This the food drop designed for one month to benefit 9,500 people will have to be stretched for 45,000 people.
