While under fire Afghan soldiers move a comrade to safety after he was hit in the face by shrapnel from rocket fire during a battle in the Makuan area in Zhari District, Kandahar Province, Afghanistan. Many of these soldiers are from the north of Afghanistan and never from Kandahar or the south. This is done in an effort to keep soldiers operating in parts of the country they have no loyalty to either tribally or ethnically.
